Leading Nominees

Outstanding Dog-Walking Sessions

The selection committee is pleased to announce the front-runners for this year's most coveted award.

Emmeline

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Renowned for her impeccable heelwork and the dignified manner in which she inspects every fire hydrant within a 200-metre radius. Holds the SCAC record for Most Sniffs Per Session (1,247).

Berty

Border Terrier

A master of the figure-eight weave around lampposts and benches. Berty's signature move - the Sudden Squirrel Detection Pivot - has been clocked at 0.3 seconds. Three-time winner of the West Highland Stick-Fetch Cup.

Voting closes 31 October 2026. Results announced at the gala.
Vetting Process

Rigorous. Thorough. Tartan-Approved.

Every nominee undergoes a multi-stage evaluation by our panel of certified canine behaviourists, retired show judges, and one particularly discerning Westie named Hamish.

1

Preliminary Sniff Assessment

A standardised olfactory evaluation to confirm baseline canine function. All subjects pass. This stage exists mostly for formalities and to justify our budget.

2

The Tail-Wag Quantification

Using SCAC-standard calibrated accelerometers, we measure tail-wag amplitude, frequency, and emotional sincerity. An average of 7.3 out of 10 is required to proceed.

3

The Tuxedo Adjudication

The critical question: "Does your dog prefer a custom tweed dog-tuxedo in tartan, or a modern charcoal suit?" Our panel evaluates both options against the SCAC Dress Code (Section 12, Subsection B: Canine Formalwear). Dogs who answer “neither” are entered into a separate “Free Spirits” category.
